One may ask to themselves "Why would I pay so much money if the automated car wash charges me $10-$20 per wash, or I can get bucket of water with soap and clean my car myself?"
Automated car washes may seem convenient, but they can be too rough on your vehicle’s paint. The harsh brushes and high-pressure water jets often create swirl marks and scratches, which can dull your car’s finish and reduce its overall value. Swirl marks are not just cosmetic; they can make your paint more susceptible to further damage by weakening the protective clear coat. Additionally, the strong chemicals used in these washes can strip away protective layers, leaving your vehicle even more vulnerable. Spray on protectants fill in some of the swirl marks which is why it's unnoticeable right away, but once the spray protectant starts to wear off, the swirls become more noticeable.
Washing your own vehicle can seem like a great way to save money, but using improper techniques or products can actually harm your paint. Rough sponges, harsh detergents, and incorrect washing methods can easily cause swirl marks or marring, which dull the finish and weaken the paint's protection. Without the right tools and knowledge, you risk doing more harm than good.
What’s the Worst That Can Happen?
When it comes to exterior defects like swirl marks, scratches, or marring, the consequences can be more serious than just an unsightly appearance. If left neglected, these imperfections can penetrate the protective clear coat, exposing your paint to the elements. Over time, this can lead to oxidation, fading, and even rust, which can significantly diminish your vehicle’s value. The total cost can quickly add up, potentially exceeding $2,000.00 for a couple panels, or way upwards between $4,000.00 to $7,000.00 for full vehicle repaint and refinish, depending on severity of condition, size of vehicle, and shop prices. Proper care now, like regular professional washes and detailing, can save you from these expensive repairs down the road and help maintain your vehicle’s value.
Gentle Gloss Wash
With my Gentle Gloss Wash, I take care of every detail to give your vehicle a thorough, polished look. I start by cleaning the wheels, tires, and gas cap, and removing bugs and bird droppings from the exterior. I then wash the vehicle using high-quality mitts, products, and methods to prevent any damage to the paint. A spray wax is applied for added shine and protection that lasts a few weeks. I carefully dry the car with soft microfiber towels and use an air blower to remove water from crevices and wheels. Finally, I clean the exterior glass and windows and dress the tires for a glossy, well-maintained finish.
